Adoration at my parish is coming up (first Thursday of every month) and I've been thinking of how it's been so long since I've gone (for various reasons). I've also been considering taking my oldest daughter with me. And thanks to Jennifer's most recent post, I've also been thinking about the Holy Spirit and how I don't really listen to Him much when He speaks to me and seeks to guide me (my own voice is so loud and stubborn!) So when I came across this link on Anne Marie's blog to a trailer on an upcoming documentary about perpetual adoration (which includes a little girl going to adoration and everything!) I had a little "Aha! Holy Spirit!" moment. I will definitely be signing up for Thursday and taking dd1 with me.

I love Adoration. While I've never had a big "moment" of "spiritual awakening" during Adoration, it remains to me a humbling and joyful experience. During my hour I might pray the rosary or study the Scripture readings for the day, but mostly, I just sit and gaze my Lord and Savior, so small and unassuming, but fully real and present. I don't have to be "on." I don't have to have any deep thoughts or revelations. I can just sit quietly and BE, together with my Lord. He is glorious and all-powerful yet humbles Himself to present among us in such a quiet and frail form. His love for us never ceases to amaze and overwhelm me.

You’ve hit it on the head. It’s the just BEING with Jesus that is so very cool about adoration. It’s so different from our day in day our lives where we most often have to be DOING something.

Thanks for linking to my trailer! It made my day to read that it may have played some small role in the Holy Spirit inspiring you to take your daughter to adoration. I think adoration can teach kids so much about their faith and about prayer, and can even help to put the Mass in context for them. The kids in my movie are so reverent and just love the Lord, and I know adoration has played a role in that. How wonderful it is that there are parents like you who take their children!

Yes! And we (well I at least!) tend to feel guilty if we're not doing something.

And you're welcome, allyouwhohope. Thank you for the comment :)
