Today we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (a Holy Day of Obligation, don't forget). This is probably one of the most misunderstood doctrines of the Catholic Church (even among Catholics!) It does NOT refer to the conception of Jesus Christ. Rather, it refers to the conception of the Blessed Virgin in the womb of her dear mother, St. Ann. The video below gives an excellent explanation of this doctrine.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
Happy Feast Day! Unfortunately the video you put up isn't working...I'd have like to see it. I wrote on this Feast Day too...with a different perspective.
Darn, I'm not sure why it's not working for you! It's fine from my end. But here's the link to it youtube, maybe that will work for you- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNt9r7X91_4
I loved your post on this, by the way! A lot of interesting history there I hadn't heard of.
Hey Katie.. thanks for sending the link. Its working now though...because of where I live (Caribbean) sometimes videos get blocked. Beautiful video, great information. Thanks for sharing it.
